FACET privacy policy
This policy explains what data the FACET game collects, why, who receives it, and what you can do about it. It covers FACET for iPhone and Android, including test builds.
FACET is made by Another Button LLC (“we”, “us”), 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. Contact: privacy@anotherbutton.com.
FACET is in development. This policy describes the game as we plan to release it. Test builds may use fewer of the services listed here, and we will update this page before the game uses any service that is not listed.
Summary
- FACET has no sign-up. It doesn’t ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Our server stores a random player ID, your saved progress, and records of rewards and purchases.
- Google Firebase receives gameplay events and crash reports.
- AppLovin and the ad networks it works with show ads and receive data about your device. On iPhone, they get your advertising identifier only if you allow tracking.
- Apple and Google process payments. We never see your card details.
- We don’t sell your personal information for money.
Data our server stores
When you first open the game, it creates a random player ID and an access token. The game keeps both on your device (on iPhone, in the Keychain). Our server stores the player ID and a hash of the token, not the token itself.
The server also stores:
- your saved progress: a small file with your game state, sent when you are online;
- records of rewards you claimed and in-game currency you spent;
- records of purchases: the product, the platform, the time, and the receipt data that Apple or Google gives us to confirm the purchase.
The server uses your IP address to limit how many requests one address can send. It holds the address in memory for that check and doesn’t write it to disk. We don’t keep server access logs.
Our server is hosted by netcup GmbH in Germany.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics to learn how people play: which stages they reach, how long runs last, and where players stop. Firebase Crashlytics sends us a report when the game crashes. Google receives:
- gameplay events we define, such as a finished run or a purchase;
- an app instance ID that Firebase creates for your installation;
- device model, operating system version, language and app version;
- your approximate location (country or region), which Google derives from your IP address;
- crash details, such as the stack trace and the state of the device at the time of the crash.
If you allow tracking on iPhone, Firebase may also receive your advertising identifier. We don’t use Firebase to show ads. See the Google privacy policy and Firebase privacy information.
Ads
FACET shows a banner in menus and offers optional video ads that double a reward. We use AppLovin MAX to choose which ad network serves each ad. AppLovin and those networks may receive:
- your IP address, device model, operating system and language;
- the identifier Apple gives each developer’s apps on a device (IDFV);
- your advertising identifier (IDFA on iPhone, advertising ID on Android). On iPhone, only if you allow tracking;
- which ads you saw and tapped.
They use this data to show ads, count views and taps, and detect fraud. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before ads are personalized, and you can change your choice in the game’s settings. See the AppLovin privacy policy.
Purchases
Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) process payments under their own terms. We receive a receipt that confirms what you bought, and our server checks it with Apple or Google before it gives you the item. We never see your card details or billing address.
Why we use data
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases:
- to run the game, keep your progress and deliver purchases: performance of our contract with you;
- to fix crashes, understand how the game is played, and protect the server from abuse: our legitimate interest in a working, fair game;
- to personalize ads and to use your advertising identifier: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time;
- to keep purchase records: our obligations under tax and accounting law.
How long we keep data
- Player ID, token hash, saved progress, reward and spending records: until you ask us to delete them, or until we shut down the game’s server.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Server backups: up to 30 days.
- Google and AppLovin keep data under their own retention rules.
Who receives data
We share data only with the service providers that help us run the game:
- netcup GmbH (Germany), which hosts our server;
- Google, for Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics;
- AppLovin and the ad networks it works with;
- Apple and Google, to process and confirm purchases.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or pass it to a buyer if we sell the game or the company; the buyer must keep to this policy. We don’t sell your personal information for money. Ad networks use device data to show ads as described above; on iPhone, turning off tracking stops them from using your advertising identifier.
International transfers
We are a US company, our server is in Germany, and our partners process data in the United States and other countries. When data leaves the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the safeguards the law provides, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses in our partners’ data processing terms.
Your rights and choices
- On iPhone, you can turn off tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android, you can delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → All services → Ads.
- To delete your data from our server, follow these steps.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing privacy@anotherbutton.com. We answer within 30 days.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you can also object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to your data protection authority. If you live in a US state with a privacy law, you have the rights that law gives you, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.
Children
FACET is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has played the game, email us and we will delete the data.
Security
The game talks to our server over HTTPS. The server stores access tokens only as hashes and checks every purchase with Apple or Google.
Changes
We post changes on this page and update the date above.
